Hi I’m Mrs. Novynka,
I've been immersed in the arts for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I spent countless hours in art classrooms and studios, where creativity was encouraged every step of the way. My parents recognized my passion early on and nurtured it in every way they could. With a photographer for a mother and an engineer for a father, I developed an appreciation for both creative expression and technical problem-solving. That combination led me to explore digital art at a young age, learning photography, video editing, and the Adobe Creative Suite long before pursuing formal education.
That lifelong passion eventually brought me to Virginia Commonwealth University, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts. Since graduating, I've spent the past five years working as a professional graphic designer, creating visual communications for organizations including Sherwin-Williams and the Navy Exchange.
While I love creating professionally, one of my greatest passions is helping others discover what art can do for them.
I believe art education is about much more than learning to draw or paint. It teaches creativity, observation, critical thinking, communication, and confidence—skills that benefit every student, no matter what career they ultimately choose.
My goal as an educator is to create an environment where students feel encouraged to explore, experiment, and develop their own creative voice. Whether a student dreams of becoming a professional artist or simply wants to gain a deeper appreciation for the visual world around them, I hope to show that art and design have the power to enrich everyday life in meaningful and lasting ways.
